Catching Fish is a literary, atmospheric fantasy short story about a young boy finding his place in a harsh world after running away from his abusive father.

Please note that this story deals directly with a highly sensitive topic: the abuse of children, both from parental figures and via the institutions of custom and law. Readers who are deeply upset by depictions of violence towards child characters are advised not to continue.

This short story is a standalone within the Forest of the Morning saga, relating a period in the backstory of one of the main characters, the Mage-Gifted mercenary Fish.
