Hello there and welcome at the newest and weirdest indie book publisher in Africa, and the only one with a special interest in bringing you the best in queer SFF and Romantasy!

Pink Hydra Press is the self-publishing imprint of South African writer and SFF enthusiast Emmylou Kotzé. I identify as demisexual and biromantic, and I’m passionate about amplifying trans and queer voices. My main work is Forest of the Morning, a saga of queer romance, adventure, and magic in a sprawling fantasy setting.

The Pink Hydra publishes one novella or novelette a month, along with a small zine of short fiction and/or poetry starting in July 2026. Novella authors get 50% of all sales, so if you leave us a tip on a sale, the author gets a tip, too. Sales on zine issues go directly into running costs and the pot for contributor pay.
